Dallas Summer Musicals and Texas State University are hosting a College Audition Prep Weekend Aug. 15-17. They are bringing in 6 TX and 2 OK college Musical Theatre programs for a very fun and intensive weekend opportunity for students to get to meet and be seen by some of the top school faculties in our region. Broadway veterans join musical theater faculty from across the state and renowned college coach Mary Anna Dennard for a unique college prep experience for students, parents and high school educators beginning Friday, August 15 through Sunday, August 17th at the Music Hall at Fair Park as Dallas Summer Musicals and Texas State University join together for the College Audition Prep Weekend.
At this forum, aspiring young high school performers and their parents will have the opportunity, in one location, to meet theater faculty from top Regional and Texas in-state universities, hear program overviews, participate in a mock dance call and present their audition material and receive valuable feedback and direction from university faculty members. Students will also be able to attend a talk given by Mary Anna Dennard, nationally renowned college audition coach and author of I GOT IN!The Ultimate College Audition Guide For Acting & Musical Theatre.
Participation is open to any high school or college age student. Space is limited. Participation fees are non-refundable. Attendance fee will be charged at time of application. Parents and teachers may attend presentations and auditions free of charge!

Adam Pascal is one of Broadway’s favorite leading men, having been born and raised in NYC. He is widely known for originating the role of Roger Davis in the Original Broadway Cast of Rent, for which he received a Tony Nomination for Best Actor (Musical), and won the Drama League and Obie Award for the role. He went on to star on Broadway as Radames in Elton John & Tim Rice’s popular musical Aida (Drama League Award), Emcee in Cabaret, Huey Calhoun in Memphis, and most recently as Billy Flynn in Chicago. Adam reprised his role of Roger Davis in in the 2005 film version of Rent, and concluded his journey with the character on the 2009 national tour of the show alongside Original Broadway cast member Anthony Rapp. Adam is also a successful recording artist having released 3 solo albums, with the most recent Blinding Light released this past year.
Adam Pascal will be hosting a masterclass, working with performers on musical theatre and pop pieces. ALL AGES are welcome to participate.

Wednesday night, April 30th, is the Dallas Summer Musicals HS Musical Theatre Awards show. All of you that purchased a ticket for the show will be released from class at 3:00 that day. You will then come down to the theatre room to eat and get ready for the event. Dress code is formal – homecoming/prom dresses for girls & suits or tuxes for guys.
You have the opportunity to order an individual pizza from Napolis to have for dinner before we go to the show. To have your order placed, you need to print off the order form below, fill it out and turn it in with complete cash payment to either Mrs. Howe or Mrs. Leffel by 12:30pm TOMORROW (April 29th). Pizzas start at $7.00 for cheese and add $1.00 for every additional topping. They are 10″ in diameter and are cut into 8 slices. You can have one to yourself or can share with a friend.
Due to NHS induction rehearsal, we have decided to move our Drama Club/ITS Meeting from Wed. Apr 23rd to Thurs, Apr. 24th. The meeting will be held in the theatre room after school.
Please get your ITS points updated by Friday, April 18th. You can update on the points record you have already. There is a link in the post below that takes you to the Points Chart. You should track ITS points if you have been involved in any production this year. If you do not have a Points Record sheet already saved in your Google Docs account, come by and see Mrs. Howe or Mrs. Leffel for the link.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, April 23rd. Please plan to attend as we will be providing information about banquet, handing out ITS Officer packets (if you are interested in running for officer next year), voting for end of year awards and much more.
Dallas Summer Musicals HS Musical Theatre Awards show is on Wednesday, April 30th. If you have ordered a ticket for the show, you will be released from class at 3:00 that day to come to the theatre room to eat and get ready for the show. We will leave on the bus at 4:00. We will be providing further information about dinner for the event and how much money you will need to bring in to cover the cost of your dinner.
