Please get your paperwork completed – the link to the paperwork is below. If you have not not completed your paperwork by December 1st, we will assume you are not accepting your role in the company and will remove you from the company list.
In addition, if you have ordered a show shirt, a tech polo or need to pay your costume fee – those items are available to be paid for through My Payments Plus and will be there until 11/30. Please make sure you log in and pay. I will only be able to order shirts for those that have told me they are ordering in their paperwork and have paid the fee through My Payments Plus. Thank you to everyone who auditioned. This was a long audition process and you all brought a lot to the table, making my decisions very difficult. Congratulations to our company – it is going to be a great show!!

Mary Poppins Tech Crew Application
There will be a MANDATORY PARENT MEETING for all parents of students wanting to audition or be a part of the crew for any plays throughout this academic school year, including Mary Poppins. Meeting to be held on Thursday, September 10th at 6:00PM in the Wakeland HS Auditorium. Please email Cheryl at Doerrstop @ mac.com with questions.

Our musical this year will be “Mary Poppins”!! Audition information will be available beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8th. You can get the information here online, or you can come by the theatre office and pick up a packet. Auditions will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 15th.
We will be having an audition workshop followed by a pre-audition student/parent meeting on Thursday, Sept. 10th. The audition workshop will begin at 4:20pm and the parent meeting will begin at 6:00pm. If you are planning to audition for the show, you and your parents need to attend the pre-audition meeting.
The audition workshop is open to anyone participating in the audition process. We will work on audition songs and audition dances.

MASTER CLASS with the Mat DeGuzman from the Broadway Touring Company of Tony Award winning PIPPIN!

TIME: 9am – 12pm (includes 9 – 11:30am technique work / 11:30 – 12pm Q & A)

LEVEL: 9th-12th grades

# OF STUDENTS: Limited to 50 high school theatre students on a first come, first serve basis. Due to limited enrollment, all students must be present for the duration of the entire workshop.
DRESS: Be prepared to move. Dance attire is appropriate.

Mathew deGuzman has been performing in the theatre professionally for 20 years! Having been seen on Broadway and across the country regionally he is thrilled to be a part of this amazing production. Broadway: Follies (7 TONY nominations including Best Revival), A Christmas Story, The Musical (3 TONY nominations including Best Musical and Best Original Score). Regional credits include Paper Mill Playhouse, Houston TUTS, Drury Lane Oakbrook, Riverside, Flat Rock, North Carolina Theatre, and Fulton Theatre. He also has choreographed various private performing groups, universities, and a reading with Charles Grodin, Alan Alda, and Judith Ivey. DSM Awards Information
For all students who purchased tickets to attend the DSM High School Musical Theatre Awards, we will be departing by bus promptly at 5:00 on Wednesday, April 29th. Please arrive no later than 4:50 ready to go. Remember to eat dinner first and dress appropriately. If you have not attended prior awards ceremonies, the attire is semi-formal to formal.
You may want to bring a small snack with you to eat as well. The awards ceremony runs long and we will probably not return to campus until between 10:30 and 11:30 in the evening.
Save the Date for the 2014-2015 Year End Banquet
Our end of year theatre banquet will be held on June 1st at The Tribute Golf Club in The Colony. Please stay tuned for further details in coming weeks.
Just a reminder that student ticket money for the DSM High School Musical Theatre Awards ceremony on April 29th is due by noon on Monday, April 6. Please remember that we are accepting ticket money for students only. The order form for student tickets lists a weblink where parents can order their tickets separately.

Questions to ask Yourself during Rehearsal
Thank you to everyone who auditioned/interviewed to be a part of our UIL company this year. This was a very difficult show to cast and that is a credit to all of you and your incredible talent. Thank you for wanting to be a part of this show. I only wish I could have cast all of you.

If you take 34 cast members, 20 crew members, four directors, six weeks of rehearsals, five Saturday shop calls, 20 gallons of paint, oodles of costumes, and five scenic locations, and add them all together, you get Wakeland High School Theatre Department’s production of “Cinderella.” The theatre department has been hard at work this school year in order to put on a great show.
Rodgers & Hammerstein’s 1957 movie musical was originally written for television and starred Julie Andrews in the title role. There have been two additional television adaptations; the 1965 version starring Leslie Anne Warren and the 1997 version starring Brandy with Whitney Houston as the Fairy Godmother. The musical has been staged on Broadway numerous times, the most recent production having just closed on Broadway is still out on tour. Wakeland High School is producing the original version of the musical. play was adapted into the musical WHS is performing. The show features music by Richard Rodgers, with book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II.
“’Cinderella’ is the fairy tale that has filled every little girls’ head since childhood, reminding them of dreams and seemingly magical impossibilities coming true.” says junior Summer Perrin, who is proudly portraying the title character. Junior Mason Doerr, who plays Prince Christopher, says “This show is something for everyone to enjoy. Families can come and be blown away by the magic of live theatre”.
